Verse of the Day: Psalm 51:11-12 Cast me not away from thy presence; And take not thy holy spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; And uphold me with thy free spirit.

I don't believe there is any such thing as a modern woman or man. Once upon a time a woman who didn't wear a hair harness or wore her hair tied up in a bonnet of some sort was considered a modern woman. Once upon a time, a woman who wore shoes was a modern woman. Once upon a time a woman who wore makeup was considered a modern woman and Once Upon a Time the woman who was married into a wealthy establishment was a modern woman. My point is every era had its version of the “Modern Woman”, which makes me think is there really such a thing.

With each passing era before us, the idea of the Modern Woman/Man has always been faced with people who were heavily against them, saying that the Modern Man and Woman were trouble. There's no such thing as a Modern Man. The first caveman to create a tool out of a rock and stick was considered a modern man. What I believe is that there are people who are progressive, those who are regressive and those who are stagnant. I mean Progressive in terms of they don't have a traditionalist mindset about most things and have become fairly adaptable to New Age societal norms.

The key principle of survival in any circumstance is adaptability. That doesn't mean that you agree with everything that's being said. It does not mean that you bend to immoral lows or throw your good senses into the Jordan for the sake of peace. That’s not what adaptability entails in human society. It simply means that you are able to establish yourself with Integrity without always having to be at the forefront of conflict simply because you disagree with something or someone.

I saw the headline of a video on YouTube that said “This is something that Modern Women don't want to hear.'' My first question was “What exactly is the Modern Woman of this time?” Going back to my previous statement, every time period had their version of the Modern Woman so what does the modern woman look like today? I would say the Modern Woman might be a bit more eccentric in comparison to those who consider themselves traditional. She might have more skill sets in addition to cooking, cleaning and caring for children (which is admittedly most women today.) She have a career in a dominantly male arena, she might be more outspoken than the soft spoken ideal traditional view of her.

I don't think these are bad qualities to have in appropriate doses. I believe that it's always good to have balance no matter who you are whether you're a male or a female. It's okay to be outgoing, but there's a time and a place for that extra spunk to show itself. It's okay to have an opinion, there's a time and place for your opinion. It's okay to be sensitive or caring or empathetic, there's time there's a time and a place for all those things and you have to know, as my fiance would say "you have to know how to read a room". You have to know when these things are appropriate and when they are not.

My best tool of advice for men and women is please understand that your voice does not belong to every narrative. You don't read about Cinderella in the same story as Snow White. Rapunzel won't be see alongside the little gingerbread man. Your voice and your opinion does not belong on every single post. You are not obligated to comment on everybody's life.

We must get back to a place (if we were ever there) where we mind our own business... every morning I wake up to a news feed full of what everybody thinks about what everybody thinks and you HAVE to be tired of that by now. For example, some would comment "well what about YOU...you're sharing your voice and your opinion and no one asked for it". You're right that's true, however you DO have a choice not to listen to me (stop reading) and walk away if you are offended or if you have nothing to offer to the conversation but bigotry and "I don't like it..."

Some will agree with me, they will see past the fact that I took to social media with this statement and say "hey she actually makes sense", because guess what? “balance”. Not everything on social media is there for you to agree or disagree with. There's still good content out there that's good enough to be thought-provoking without causing a casualty of moral compass. (I apologize for digressing)

The Modern Man and Woman are those who stands in contrast to those who have regressed and become stagnant in their way of thinking about the opposite sex which includes but is not limited to other women and men.

Have you ever stopped to wonder where we got all these terminologies from? toxic masculinity ,toxic femininity....it's like we pull these random terms out of our ass to make an argument about problems that don't exist and call it revolutionary. I'm getting rather bored of that cycle...

We Believe in the modern myth because in some way or form it brings justice to our own individual behaviors. We Believe in these modern myths to satisfy the desires we have to be different from others and I say that for both sides of the argument.

The supposed modern man and woman and the traditionalist man and woman, we believe that we are different, with the secret desire to be exactly the same. We provide our own paradox in a manner of speaking. We admire and respect the idea of individualism until it excludes us and yet we don't worry about exclusion if we fit into the status quo.

I'm sure that what I'm saying today isn't new. I'm pretty sure it's been said many times before by many other people in many different ways but that's just my point.... There has been someone like me in a different time, in a different place, but with the same idea; that what they thought and what they believed could make a difference.

I’m not any different from those before me and neither are you, so then what truly changes in the end? What determines if we progress, regress or remain stagnated?
