Verse of the Day:

Psalm 118:24

This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.

Kendrick Lamar and Taylor Swift have been the most inspiring people to me these past couple of years. I've written work inspired by these two and for me that means EVERYTHING. Anyone or anything that inspires me to create will always have my reverence. I wrote "On Wings of Fire and Ink, She Soared" while listening to "Tortured Poets Department". I finally had the courage to talk about my real demons in "Red Queen Syndrome: My Worst Fears", after watching the video to Kendrick Lamar's, "Count me out". I know they may never read these words, but if by some chance they do: You two are very special to me. Taylor, it all started with "You belong with me", you grew up with me through song, there is so much beauty, light, pain, darkness and poetry within you, and I've shared in those moments. Kendrick, I'm a very new fan, but you have one of the most beautiful souls I've ever witnessed. It was my husbands enthusiasm and knowledge about you that brought me to your music and now we have something else we share, our love and respect for you as an artist. To the both of you, my prayers are with you always, thank you....with all of my heart, thank you. :)

I'm writing this, because I'm still growing into the creator I believe and know in my heart that I was meant to be. It's important for me to share my stories with others, and be transparent about my experiences and the people who are a part of them. That's what this blog site is for. I created the Ebony Quill to share ME and my human, spiritual experiences with the world, in hopes that I too can inspire others. Social media was pretty tough on me, it was difficult to keep up, I admired those who could and was very proactive with posting and interacting with others...but it felt voided and empty most of the time (I haven't given up on all platforms, I LOVE TikTok) I'm just learning how to navigate and add my voice into a deafening chorus of other, more seasoned individuals.)

I know this may seem like a dream reach or a star struck fan girl post, but..I don't want to be just a fan to people I admire. I know I'm not worthy, but if I had a chance to just be in the same room, shake hands with and have a conversation with anyone, I would start with Taylor Swift and Kendrick Lamar (among a few others). I don't want to meet them as a celebrity to a fan, but as a creator to a creator. I want to LEARN from them, HEAR them, get to KNOW them as more than people I see on a big screen. In this crazy world of ours, I believe that anything is possible. Who knows?

This could be the blog that changes everything.

"For the love of life and the pursuit of the arts, stay prayerful, stay positive and write on."
