Verse of the Day:

Psalm 16:11

You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.

Since the year 2020, I have made it a priority and a part of my every day routine to start the day in prayer. I've built a strong habit into starting off the years strong with a prayer board or plan of some sort (how I spend my devotional time). This makes it easier to put into action. My morning talks with God are very sacred and important to me, I use this time to give thanks and talk about the things that are on my heart, the things that trouble me, the things that I'm thankful for and anything else I want my heavenly father to know. (If I talk to you about it, God knew first). Building a personal relationship with God was the best choice I've ever made in my life and it proves to be fruitful each day.

I start the devotion by simply telling Yahweh, "Thank you, for waking me up this morning to start my day", before going to my journal and writing out my prayer for the day. I have three scriptures that I choose each day: one from my prayer jar, gifted to me by a dear friend. It's color coded based on how you may be feeling for the day. My second scripure comes from my Bible app and my third comes from my daily devotions book.

I choose one of these scriptures to display on the wall and meditate on why I may have been given these scriptures. God speaks in ways you may not expect him to, its important to always pay attention. He speaks through anyone and anything he wants, it's one of the things I love most about him.

Every year, I pray for spiritual direction through a specific scripture, this year it was Phillippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

This becomes the central theme of whatever lessons and chapters I'll be learning and exploring into for the year and it never fails to connect. This will be the year that I bear witness to many amazing things that I can only give God credit for and it's an honor to be able to share it with others.

Let's talk about it? How do you spend time with God? Comment below and remember:

"For the love of life and the pursuit of the arts, stay prayerful and write on!"
