Verse of the Day:
Its TIIIIIMMME for some book reviews! Why not?? Starting with the high fantasy adventure, enemies to lovers story written by TikToks own A.K Larocca! (I'll be adding her "@" down below, along with links to where you can find her book!) Now, without further or do, lets dive into this review!
My thoughts:
The story of Elemorix takes place at the grandiose Elemorix University, home to the youth of Harmonia's best and finest in the art of elemental knowledge. Children born with the magical ability and spiritual connection to manipulate water, fire, earth, wind, light and dark take center stage in our ancient world. Our main protagonist, Zephira is born a void and in this world, those who are born as voids do not wield elemental ability however, in spite of this once sure footed knowledge she is summoned to attend the prestigious university. A place that was once only reserved to those in the inner cities and those born with magical blood is turned on its head when their new arrival gives birth to a brand new student house, the house of the beast! The importance of voids playing a key and vital role to the overall structural integrity of Harmonia is a glaring but very obvious nod to the hard working class of our own society, born to exist in harmony, forced to live in exile. The undertones of classism is very evident upon Zephira's first encounter with her immediate nemesis, future lover; Draven.
Allow me to make some brief commentary about one of the CLASSES within Elemorix: The healing arts reminded me of the episode in Avatar: The Last Airbender when Katara realizes she could heal herself using water bending!
Throughout Zephira's misadventures, we uncover many surprising revelations about the world of Harmonia (no spoilers!) I find the extremist (though valid) views of the different elemental houses to be very interesting and the direct parallels between the social hierarchies in the magical families against voids and those within the pyramid themselves (our preconceived antagonist Draven and his family alongside the leaders of The Elemorix University) very intriguing.
One of the things I appreciate is that the enemies to lovers troupe isn't rushed to save face in-spite of the actual pace of the story. I wish we had a bit more time to enjoy the beautiful scenery that is painted before us (something I consider a minor bump when it comes to transitions in an otherwise very enjoyable read.)
My Quill Rating: I give it 9/10 Quills, I enjoyed the vivid imagery, the world map is gorgeous and the author's ability to really paint a picture of her world is very captivating! I recommend to anyone who is a fan of magical schools and elemental enchantment!
