Verse of the Day: "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it."- Proverbs 22:6

When I came up with the idea for my third project, I knew I wanted it to be for the benefit of my students and children everywhere. It began as a poem that I later decided to make into its own book. In a world where everything is an insult to everyone, I wanted to be able to provide children with a source that would answer an important question in a way that was appropriate to their age and meaningful to their learning journey's. "What is Culture?", I looked up the book definition of the word to remain free of what I personally believed culture is so that the content of what I knew would be digested by a younger audience could be based in factual information and not personal bias. I had to educate myself on the components that actually make a culture rather than bask in present day ideologies that are thrown about with reckless abandon nowadays. I prayed while I wrote, creating a book that could represent the topic of culture and its variables while being entertaining and informative to children ages 5 and up.

The objective of the Abc's of culture is to assist with developing letter/word recognition, and expanding vocabulary skills while learning about the subject matter of culture. I felt it was of great importance for the children of this time period to be well informed on this and be able to freely embrace their own cultures as they grow into their own people. I'm not okay with a lot of the children's stories that I am seeing nowadays that all seem to hold a bias to only one group of people and completely dismissive that children from ALL backgrounds, cultures and class will be subject to learning from them. I refuse to become a part of that agenda. As an educator this is my way of fighting back and speaking up against a false narrative being written off as "Woke"culture. I myself am unlearning many things I've been taught, and I feel it necessary to use the small platform I have to voice my concerns on these matters. I am a creator with a responsibility to share what I have witnessed.

For all of those looking for their own copies of The Abc's of Culture, I will provide a direct link in this post, I have a few questions for my readers: At what age do you believe the topic of culture should be taught, and do you think it is being taught in an appropriate manner today? Comment your thoughts below!
