Happy black history month everyone! In honor of those who trailed the way for black men, women and children everywhere, this months blogs are going to cover iconic tributes of both past and present while also covering some heavy but much needed to be discussed truths as it relates to the black community. With that being said, let's get into today's topic.
Every black history month, my social media account floods with inspiring black quotes, fun facts and historical information about black people.....famous black people take to their platforms to acknowledge and give thanks to those that came before them as they themselves pass the torch on to others.......HOWEVER, I am also met with men and women fighting in the streets, looting stores, bad mouthing each other in public, killing each other and using social media to tell the world that Black history month is the time to make everybody who isn't black ,a villain to be brought down by any means necessary.....We have made a movement that represented peace and equality into a movement that is just as harmful to black people as it is to anyone else.....WE as a people have destroyed the beauty of black history month and I am sick of it.....
I'm sick of pandering....for inclusiveness from people who are more than equipped, more than talented and capable enough to go out into the world and make the best happen for themselves....but feel more comfortable demanding it from others.
I'm sick of predetermined "black" ideology that I HAVE to follow, otherwise, I'm not black and I don't understand the "struggle".
I'm sick of black parents being their child's first bullies and young black children being spoon fed a false narrative from the womb, that they are a victim by default simply because they are black.
I'm sick of blatant color-ism that is running rampant in our communities....you know EXACTLY what I mean....
I'm sick of black people feeling entitled to be monsters, because of things that never happened to THEM instead of honoring the memories of the people it happened to,
and I am SICK of Black America...NOT. OWNING. THEIR. STUFF.
We will never grow as a people until we can let go of WHAT we are and focus on WHO we are....not only as a community but as individuals...and I say this in love, as a black woman myself....this nonsense......has to end in order for our future to have a chance of blossoming.
WE are too great of a people.....to have such a primitive mentality.
WE need to do better.....and we all know I'm not saying anything new.
