Show of hands for everyone who's ever heard of google chrome...everyone right? then I'm pretty sure you know about their google drive feature, right? if not, Google drive is an online storage for all types of documents, photos and files, an online filing cabinet if you will that can be accessed anywhere from your laptop to other mobile devises! it even has an app you can download to your phone so you can work and save on the go! Still feeling secure about that flash drive?
So what does this knowledge present to us writing folks? A golden opportunity to use less ink and paper while tossing out those old drives (after backing up our files of course). Not only can you download your information from your flash drive to your account, it's directly linked to your gmail account, so in case of any suspicious activity, you'll be notified the moment it happens! You can even edit certain documents on your phone. Most of us writers have day jobs that occupy a lot of our time and lack that time to be able to sit down and give our craft the attention it needs, so without further or do, here are some tips to help you get started!
1. Login with your usual information
this takes you to your inbox of course!
2. In the top right hand corner there's an icon made of nine little gray squares, click on it a small menu of options should appear.
3. click on "Drive "
If you aren't already set up it's quick and easy! you'll be prompted to start downloading, uploading or to back up a file or files from the devise you are using.
If you are already set up, click on the "new" button on the top left corner and a drop box of options will appear.
4. To download press "download files", to upload press "upload files" or even add new folders just as you would with a flash drive! this helps keep your things organized!
5. Name some folders to get started as you would with a physical file, you can do this at your leisure!
6. Now your're all done and ready to drive! Happy typing!
